Travel Club does Ubon #12

This team also creates its own silk dyes, using ancient techniques and traditional matterials. Koen, who speaks Thai language at an expert level, spoke at length to the head of the dye team as she was creating a colour from tree wood, bark and seed.

This ends my series on our short exploration of this remote part of Thailand...my part of the Country...I hope you found it interesting.

Jolies photos, j'ai beaucoup aimé cette série.
Ray: Merci pour votre gentil commentaire, Martine.
Really great shots, Ray - I've enjoyed the education!
Ray: Thank you very much, Elizabeth.
Nice, Ray
Ray: I thought so, too, Rob.

J'ai découvert des choses inédites !

Very interesting indeed Ray. This lady is clearly an expert in her field
Ray: Oh, yes...decades of developing her skills, which she is now practicing and passing on.
I'll have to o back to see the entire series, Ray, but dying fabric from natural materials would really interest some of my nieces right now, who are expert knitters.
Ray: Next visit I expect to spend more time in the Dye area, Ginnie.

The whole trip was interesting to me, and it must have been good to share your home territory with friends
Ray: These short "tours" are great fun, Lisl, and I expect there will be another one quite soon.

They must be very impressed when Western people speak their language Ray. Koen must be very useful on trips.
Ray: Koen is most useful as a Local Beer taster, Chap, and ensures we only drink the good stuff. smile

It just shows how old techniques can still be used to produce high quality clothes - all done without the aid of huge chemical factories. I expect that the products were all measured out by eye, too, so each batch of dye is unique.
Ray: This whole Workshop is authentic, Alan, and they dominate their market niche...Highest Quality Bespoke Silk cloth.
Very enjoyable Ray. Thanks for showing us this
Ray: You are welcome, Bill. There is a lot more to Thailand than the popular press shows.
I found this series very interesting Ray, they almost make something out of nothing don't they.
I especially liked the visit here.
the suspended fibres were my favourite part, Ray.
Very good Ray, interesting stuff.
Most interesting...
i thought that she was grinding something to make dye when i first saw what she was doing...
it has been a very interesting series Ray....petersmile
A dyeing art, but not a dying art smile

"So, what did the farang want?"
"He wanted to know if he should lean closer, so that I properly can see him"
