Fun with Fone #1

Occasionally I like to play around with the toy camera in my Smartphone, and the free photo-manipulation Apps available on Google Playstore.

From inside our house I have made a shot of a couple of our dogs welcoming the monks who have shown up at 0615 to gather alms.

Alms gathering is a standard feature of the humility training provided to Thailand's Buddhist monks...it benefits receivers [monks] by providing them with food each day...it benefits givers [householders] as it gives them an opportunity to Make Merit by doing good deeds in this Life that will set them up for an even better next Life.

Or something like that...

I love the twiddle! Amazing how the Monks are trained. It is all about sharing I wonder if this is the same in the big cities. I imagine that in your small community it is easier to share?
Ray: Monks also collect alms in the cities, Astrid.
I love what these smartphones can do with their apps (and owners), Ray. How fun.

I have a nephew who is in his final stage of becoming a Buddhist monk in Toronto, Canada. I am learning a lot about what you have described here. Among other things, he is no longer able to carry a wallet with money...becoming totally dependent on the goodness of others for his daily needs.
Ray: Thank you, Ginnie.

There are 400,000 to 600,000 Thai Buddhist Monks...it is a popular lifestyle, here.

Actually I like this a lot
Ray: I am pleased I showed it, then.

Joli traitement, on dirait un tableau.
Ray: Il tente d'imiter un style de peinture connu sous le nom de dadaïsme, Martine.

I love your playing - the monks are very early!
Ray: I hear the monks begin to chant at the village temple, just about 200 metres from our house, at about 0400, Philine...their day starts early.
I like a win win situation. Nice little app for your phone.
Ray: Win : Win is usually a good thing.

Smartphone Apps can be quite useful, can't they...I have yet to spend money of one, but use many free ones.

So basically beggars with a religious slant then? I like your edit.
Ray: Buddhism is usually regarded as more a Philosophy than a Religion, Alan...so basically beggars who wear orange robes and generally follow a set of behavioural rules.

If you saw this in a gallery, it would sell as modern art, Ray!
Ray: I was quite pleased with the outcome, Lisl, even though I didn't play a big role in the twiddle.

At 6:15! You will have to teach the dogs to share a bone at that early hour. The receivers look like dolls in this conversion.
Ray: At 0615 I am just returned from dropping the kids at the bus-stop, and am contemplating a coffee before going off for a couple of hours on my bicycle, Louis.
I like the effect very much and love the colours.
Ray: It is a pleasing filter, Mary.
It comes up witha rather novel result doesn't it.
Ray: Quite good, Brian...the style is Dadaism, according to the App.

A clever little app Ray.
Ray: Easy for a bloke to use, too, Chad.
