Ray's Thai Tours #16

We decide to take a detour on the return trip to Bangkok airport, staying for one night at a beach-side place within an hour's drive to the aeroplane.

Bang Saen fits the specification, so I get on-line and book a place...I thought I was getting typical bungalow near a public beach, but actually got an airBNB kind of arrangement, which was a full house in a gated community and with a private beach.

We fill vacant seats with local youngsters and make the long drive. Actually, the drive would not have been so long if I had being paying sufficient attention...getting lost adds perhaps 90 minutes to the journey, and leaves all the adult travellers a little tired, but we do see more of the countryside.

On arrival, we walk a bit, while the kids swim, then drive some more and find a restaurant that does great food!

The top shot is really beautiful - what a great error to make!
Ray: I don't mind getting lost when I am not in a hurry...or, as this time, when the trip would have already been 5 hours or more!

However, I did like the jetty that is in the top pic, Elizabeth.

Great pictures and sometimes it is nice to have an unexpected drive and see more of the countryside.
Ray: Thank you for you sensitivity about my silly error, Astrid.
And a great time was had by all, I'm sure of it, Ray!
Ray: It all turned out ok at the end, Ginnie.

Getting lost is all part of life's rich tapestries. People are often telling me to get lost.
Ray: I don't get told that very often, Alan, but it is possible many non-English-speaking folks think it!

This has the 'old photograph ' look Ray.
Ray: Probably that is because some old bloke was operating the camera, Chad!

Looking at the pier I think we could almost be in England or Germany. I like that you filled vacant seeats with local youngsters.
Ray: It is usually more fun when there are kids in the group, Philine.

I enjoyed being out on the pier, where we watched fishermen tending their nets.
You could have given that a coat of paint while you were there Ray
Ray: You are correct, Bill...I could have... smile
Your pictures are making me homesick for my son who I have not seen in almost two years.
Ray: I believe I can identify with that sentiment, Mary!
I like both pictures Ray, we've often found places 'off-route!" that turn out to be interesting. We're lucky, our son lives in Shepshed and our daughter only 20 minutes away on the edge of Nottingham.
Ray: Thank you, Brian. Sometimes unplanned sidetracks work out ok.
i love the top photo of the ladies on the bridge Ray... good depth...
looks like you lucked our with the airB&B...
getting lost for 90 minutes wasn't so goodgrin

Ray: It makes me aware that a time will come when I cannot be let out of sight unless I am wearing a GPS collar... smile sad
i like the view down the boardwalk, Ray. i am quite ok getting lost as long as no missed flights occur further down the line. but in your case, there was nothing to worry.
Ray: I try to give myself time to get lost and then recover, Ayush! smile

I always enjoy reading that you have taken local children along with you
Ray: It adds to the enjoyment of the trip, Lisl...everybody wins!
