A universal trade...
Ray: These blokes have almost no tools, Larry, but still seem confident and capable.

I really like this "can do" attitude so common in up-country Thailand.

Un travail minutieux. J'aime bien les terrasses dans le fond.
Ray: Je crois que cette plage a été bien connue pour la construction / réparation de bateaux en bois pendant de nombreuses années, Martine.
I know a few of us who would love watching that, Ray...and maybe even lending a helping hand!
Ray: It is great to see trades like this still in play, Ginnie...fibreglass and plastic have torn into boat making in the past 40 years.

Skilled work isn't it, and nice to see
Ray: Yes...great to see blokes still repairing old wooden vessels, Chris.

So much more pleasing to see wooden boats rather than plastic bathtub things. I'm sure that builders are highly skilled.
Ray: I believe they have been building and repairing wooden fishing boats on this beach for many years, Alan.

Four men will manage that - and so many dogs! I love the pier.
Ray: This area is famous for shellfish, Philine, so the pier will have restaurants specialising in seafood.

They give the impression that they know what they are doing Ray.
Ray: Having an early morning meeting about the day's work before they start cutting and nailing, Chad.
More chat than repairing by the look of it Ray
Ray: Having an early morning meeting about the day's work before they start cutting and nailing, Bill.
I love that your dogs are of the Thai mutt type. It seems you could mistake any for yours.
Ray: Eight of our ten are definitely Thai Mutts, Mary...I find them attractive and sturdy.

I think we can pick ours for their unique personalities.
They have got to be competent in more than just fishing I guess.
Ray: I am pretty sure these guys are not fishermen, Brian...they are full-time boat builders/repairers.
they look like they have learned a lot on the job, Ray. and even the dogs are joining in
Ray: When we were building our house, Ayush, I was delighted to see how the smarter workers put their heads together and solved problems as they arose, and how they built many of their own tools as they needed.
C'est toujours interessant de voir ces pêcheurs au travail ..Merci
Ray: Il s'agit d'une équipe de constructeurs de bateaux, Claudine ... ils sont longtemps établis comme des réparateurs de bateaux de pêche en bois.
i like both shots Ray... i see that the pier is filled with restaurants... they don't miss an inch do they...
they are doing good work of the fishing boat....petersmile
Ray: I think these are competent tradesmen, Peter.

I think those dogs are having a strike meeting.
Ray: Dogs always seem to have something to debate, Louis.
I really love these photo's of the men at work... I like it when things are done "old school". Not having a modern shop with it's modern tools and technology invites you to use your muscles and brain!
Ray: Yes...me too, Elizabeth. These guys seem completely relaxed and assured.

All those dogs, too - some look like Toby?
Ray: Most of our dogs are Thailand Bitzers, Lisl, so look pretty much like mutts all over the country.
