Ray's Thai Tours #18

We have a little time before driving to the Airport, so we find the huge Chinese Temple on a hill overlooking the Oyster beds off Angsila Beach.

This temple has been under construction for about 10 years, but is still a work-in-progress. Despite this, there is much to see, including the main Shrines on three levels of one very ornate, finished building.

In the courtyard we find that there is a portable Percussion Band, accompanying two animated, colourful temple lions.

Amazing stuff!
Ray: Colourful...and, great fun!
I wonder if anyone else thinks it's a bit "over the top," Ray or if it's just "ho-hum" there??? I'm "short of eyes."
Ray: Ha ha

I expect all visitors feel they need more eyes to see it all, Ginnie.

Oh, c'est magnifique ! Les dragons sont modernes, ils ont des baskets...
Ray: Oui ... les lions de temple très modernes, Martine ... les dernières chaussures de sport!

Your temple band has ejected me from my early morning torpor. The combination of its melodic clangings plus my coffee have done great things to my insides.

The temple itself is an object lesson in over-the-topsville visually..
Ray: Ha Ha

This place is a Tonic, Chris!

I suppose this could be visual overload for the westerner Ray, who are used to more order and minimal design.
Ray: I usually stay only about 30 minutes, Chad...any more and I become over-excited...
Somptueux ce temple ..
Les deux lions sont vraiment très beaux !et l'ambiance musicale est bien agreable
Merci
Ray: C'est un temple merveilleux, Claudine ... pas normal en aucun sens!

A lot of bling there. Are you adding the lions to your menagerie?
Ray: Na won't let me bring them home, Alan...she feels they might scare away our cats...

What a lot of detail - and to read, it is unfinished. I like the dragons cavorting in the pond, in the background of the lion picture.
Ray: As others have remarked, Louis...it is stupendously and deliciously over-the-top!
They like to have plenty of colour in their temples.
Ray: Chinese temples are wonderful, Brian!

Love that second shot and the accompanying music.
Ray: Thank you, Cuidado...it was great entertainment for us!
The band are very lively! Great stuff Ray
Ray: Energetic and enthusiastic folks, Bill!

I am always surprised at how often you come across temples still a-building, Ray
Ray: It seems Thailand never has enough temples, Lisl! smile
