Yangon Circle Line #14

The pleasures of living track-side are manifold.

Here you can see that the track ballast makes a lovely drying ground for one's washing, and that the concrete sleepers are fine for drying broom grass.

C'est surprenant de faire sécher le linge ainsi sur les cailloux.
Ray: Le ballast devient très chaud, Martine, et donc les vêtements se séchent rapidement.
Very inventive!!
Ray: I am guessing it works just fine, Elizabeth.

Well it saves electricity by not having to use the tumble drier. Do they have toilets on the train and if so does it empty on to the tracks?
Ray: They do have toilets, and they do evacuate thusly, Alan...I suppose that is why the clothes are not laid between the tracks.

I guess the broom grass could get polluted then. What is it used for, Ray?
Ray: The broom grass is dried, then used to make ...eerrr...brooms, Lisl! smile

Fascinating. I will repeat - fascinating Ray. Is this activity illegal?
Ray: In Asia, Chad, the rule is "If you can get away with it then it must be legal!"
reminds me of coin flattening days, Ray!
Ray: I remember those days well, Ayush.
I can see why the laundry looks dusty or dirty.
Ray: Two steps forward, then one step back...
Making good use of a resource Ray
Ray: It is available, and the price is right...
I guess it's called not letting anything go to waste and that there is a use for everything.
Ray: People with no money must survive as best they can.
Make use of what is there, eh?
Ray: Things certainly work differently in countries where most people are excruciatingly poor, Tom.
