Swampland #1

Recently I visited a swampy lake near our home. It has plenty of water at the moment as we are nearing the end of a Wet Season.

I'll try to give you an impression of the beauty of this place, and its continual pull on me.

Quite a lot of the watery area is covered by this attractive floating water-plant, which has colourful foliage and blooms.

your attraction to this lake is quite understandable, Ray, especially with the second shot.
Ray: Thank you, Ayush.

[I am not just a fruitcake then...]
Very lovely photos of this pretty little thing - we call this a mosaic plant
Ray: That is a very apt name for the plant, Elizabeth.
Très jolies ces fleurs dans l'eau, je ne connaissais que les nénuphars.
Ray: Plus tard dans la semaine, je montrerai une fleur d'eau différente mais très jolie, Martine.
I'm guessing everyone is enjoying it while it lasts, Ray. So very lovely.
Ray: It is a popular place with Sapiens, for the fishing and the access to water lilies, Ginnie. At different times there are many species of birds feeding here. And, I like it for the ready access to flying insects at different times.

We are in for a treat, I know it, Ray!
Ray: Just a mini-series this time, Lisl, but I hope you enjoy it.

It is charming, very much like a cultivated ornamental lake might be
Ray: A peaceful but fecund place, Chris.

They look so delicate and I assume they are not that big. Love the yellow here.
Ray: The flowers are about golfball size, Astrid, and a brilliant yellow like daffodils.

I especially like the lower image which shows the leaf structure very well.
Ray: Me too, Alan, and Elizabeth has a good name for the plant [mosaic plant].

I understand very well your enthusiasm while visiting this lake! The floating water-plants are wonderful.
Ray: Thank you, Philine. I have another lovely specimen to show you in a couple of days from now.

What does it feel like to be continually pulled Ray? This swampy lake looks a treasure.
Ray: It is pleasurable, Chad, so long as it is continual rather than continuous.

I like this place, and often have it to myself.
It is like a giant floating buttercup Ray
Ray: That is goodness...right!
In the close up I am amazed at the way the leaves all fit into place in a radiating pattern.
Ray: There is another view in a picture I show in a few days, Martin...the pattern is even more distinct, and Elizabeth's name of Mosaic Plant is apt.

It is worth returning to, even without Thai nubile girls... Beautiful coverage by these flowers.
Ray: There's a lot of fish in the shallow water too, Louis...I don't fish, but I like observing the fish.
I can see the attraction, Ray.
Ray: A placid and lovely place, Tom.
We have a similar yellow water plant.. Beautiful and interesting to see.
Ray: It seems to me like a painting on top of the water, Mary.
It is magnificent--I can see why you'd feel pulled to it...
Ray: Lovely stuff, isn't it, Larry.
They are the most beautiful of blooms Ray.
Ray: Like a field of tropical daffodils, Brian.
beautiful and colourful place Ray... love the second image....petersmile
Ray: It is a lovely place, Peter.
