Elegant Beauty

Delicate in construction, and dainty in flight, this small Damselfly graces our garden for much of the year.

This specimen seems to be weighed down by numerous parasites but still manages to retain its poise.

Here is a closer view of the head, and its startling eyes.

You have used the two "d" adjectives I would have chosen, so I offer you delightful and debonair, Ray
Ray: It is difficult to overdo the adjectives with Damselflies, Lisl! smile

An audacious behaviour! Great images!

Certainly a thing of elegance and beauty
Ray: I have many, many images of Damselflies, Chris...I find them hard to resist as a subject.
They are beautiful creatures
Ray: I think so, too, Bill.

Wouldn't it be great if we had such eyes which have us the wide field of vision. I wonder if parasites if parasites and, if so, do they have parasites, too?
Ray: Oh yeas, Alan...I am confident that parasites have to put up with pesky parasites.

Life can be a challenge no matter how big or small.
Ray: Cripes, Chad...that is a deep thought!
I had noticed the parasites in the first shot right away. Those eyes are otherworldly.
Ray: Their eyes make me think of Hammerhead Sharks, Mary.
As you would say, gobsmacked! smile
Ray: Thank you for your kind comment, Larry.
These creatures look so fragile I always think.
Ray: They certainly look fragile, Brian, but they are successful predators in their World of Small jungle.
