photoblog image Bearing Cups

Bearing Cups

Sometimes I visit an Agricultural Machinery factory in nearby Prasat city, to acquire replacement parts for our Rice Harvester.

On this occasion I had 5 minutes in the factory with my smartphone, before a supervisor began to look unhappy/menacing.

I was rather attracted to this opened crate of Chinese-manufactured bearing cups that will be used in the creation of disc ploughs.

Great abstract... the supervisor probably thought you were a spy...
Ray: I tend to just wander into anywhere that looks interesting, Larry...most times no-one cares, but I have had a couple of situations where security folks have hands on pistols.

Yesterday I wandered into a part-finished Chinese Temple and started making pics of the work-in-progress...I congratulated the senior guy on the quality of the artworks being created, and he was totally relaxed about my infiltration.
Makes for a terrific shot, Ray!
Ray: I was quite pleased with it, Elizabeth.

A striking image Ole Fruit. Non-foto persons often look askance at our innocent hobby.

I expect the supervisor thought you were on an industrial sabotage mission and were intent on setting up a vast factory producing BILLIONS of these vital things every week..
Ray: I rarely get problems, Chris, although I poke the lens into all kinds of places that could upset folks.

I wonder if there is at least one of these in my car somewhere? I expect that someone case to count them all to make sure that they have not been short-changed.
Ray: You won't have these exact parts, Alan, but the four wheels will each be attached to something like these.

I like this image because of the patterns and your treatment.
Ray: It was the pattern that attracted me, Philine.
Came out well
Ray: Not bad for a smartphone pic and taken inside a factory with no lights on.
I like the grainy appearance of this Ray.
Ray: I accentuated that graininess with a little bit of PP, Brian...I liked it, too!
a universal reaction i think, Ray. they look like sintered parts.
