Five Minutes #3

November 20th...I am feeling a bit battered after my 212km  bicycle ride two days previously, and recovering from the physical trauma of being knocked off my bicycle by an imcompetent motorcyclist...I have some spare time at 0630 as I am not cycling...

I sit in the garden, near a patch of weeds, with a macro lens on my camera...here is a sample of what I find...

A very colourful little Damselfy on a grass flower-stem...

And, a different coloured Damselfly on a different grass flower-stem:

What gaudy colors!
Ray: When mating s the objective, Larry, a little colour is never gaudy...alluring, perhaps!

smile
The colors are so vibrant! Beautiful shots!!
Ray: I was really "stopped" by their colours, Elizabeth.
the red damselfly is something unusual to my eyes. i like both but my preference for the second one is slightly higher, Ray. rest well.
Ray: The red one certainly made me sit up and pay attention, Ayush.

In truth, neither is anywhere close to my best pics of Damselflies, but I am trying to honestly tell a story about a 5 minute opportunity near a square metre of weeds in the garden.

These look like minute neon lights, Ray. And what eyes!
Ray: They are stunners, Lisl, and were within about 20cm of each other.
I'm sure all of us are thinking the same thing, Ray: we're so glad you're still alive with us!
Ray: I am delighted to be alive and with my SC Buddies, too, Ginnie. smile

One cannot do other than gasp at the way nature has adorned these lovely things
Ray: Yes...a bit of a gasping moment for me when I caught these two within about 20cm of each other, Chris.

Your incident on the bike has benefitted us by giving you the time out to take such incredible photos. Such beautiful colours.
Ray: Quite gorgeous critters, aren't they, Alan.

I am so glad that you are able to sit in the garden and these little follows fly to you instead of you wandering off in the garden.. Love these macro's. I so hope you will heal well and will be out of pain. This is a cyclist nightmare sad...
Ray: I am just returned from a 70km slow ride on the bike, Astrid...I feel like things are beginning to fix themselves.

These are beautiful critters!

Little? Long and large! A fascinating image again!
Ray: These animals are about the same shape and size as a matchstick, Philine.
Wouah...magnifique ....
J espère que tu vas mieux..
Bonne journée
Ray: Ils sont beaux ... et, je me remets, Claudine.

The colours are attractive and probably help the red one to recognise he shouldn't jump the blue one.
Ray: Ha Ha

I used to think that, Louis...then I posted a picture recently that showed the mating of two quite differently coloured Damselflies.
The neon pink is a new one on me, the purple too. Wonderful aren't they.
Ray: They are beautiful, Mary.
They have the most beautiful colouring.
Ray: Tiny, stunning , living gems, Brian.
