J'aime beaucoup le mouvement des ailes.
Ray: Oui ... un élément crucial dans cette image, Martine!

That movement of the wings that is absolute fabulous, Ray. This is indeed such a fabulous picture.
Ray: I am delighted you think so, Astrid.
It really IS like a hummingbird, Ray...so dainty and delicate.
Ray: Very like a hummingbird, Ginnie, but not quite as small.
Bonjour ray
Encore deux très belles prises de vues
Merci à  toi
Bises
Ray: J'ai eu la chance de faire ce cliché, Claudine ... J'ai échoué dans mes tentatives passées.

What a terrific image Ray! Did you get any pix of the chix?
Ray: I stayed away from the nests this season, Chris, as the cats seemed curious about my activities in the garden. I have chick pics from previous seasons.

The manic wing beating is clearly evident. I hope she gets plenty of nutrition from the shrub.
Ray: Birds and insects seem to love this shrub, Alan...it produces lots of nectar.

I daily observe how the birds try to hover while feeding, but the bigger birds are not sucessful.
Ray: I am presently attempting to photograph the hovering antics of a Common Kingfisher, Philine...several failed attempts by me thus far.
This is a delight Ray.
Ray: These little boids are wonderful, Bill.

What a pretty dress it’s wearing Ray.
Ray: A sort of full-skirted A-line number, I believe, Chad.
They must have to beat their wings loads of times per minute to even stay there.
Ray: Yes...this shot was made at shutter 1/500 and there is still wing-blur, Brian...hovering is safer than landing, for the birds, but there is an energy cost.
The eyes are huge on these birds.
Ray: They do have big eyes, Mary, and it seems their eyesight is very good as they are hard to creep up on.
The humming bird equivalent smile
Ray: This image certainly provides some good evidence of that, Tom.
I like that, the First Love shrub...
Ray: It is a gorgeous shrub, Larry...the birds and insects like it so much I am thinking of getting a couple more of these shrubs.
