A few hours in Kolkata Part A #20

The British Enfield Company sold manufacturing rights for the classic 350cc Enfield Bullet to a Chennai, India based company in 1957, before being absorbed into Triumph/Norton company in 1968.

Over time, the Chennai company changed the brand of their motorcycles products to "Royal Enfield", and has been successfully improving and manufacturing these lovely-looking vehicles ever since. The motorcycles are very popular in India, but are also exported in increasing numbers to many other countries.

This series will conclude at the end of next week.

One of the classic British brands. I think Jaguar may still be owned by the Indians (Tata?).

You sound like an enthusiast Ray.
There's a great name to conjure with. My next door neighbour has one of the latest models the same as this one, https://royalenfield.com/uk/motorcycles/continental-gt he loves it.
Bright & shiny, Ray. Looks to be very well taken care of.
i had an uncle who owned a 350cc version of this bike and i had some enjoyable rides (on the backset) as a boy. these bikes have successfully captured a niche, Ray.
i hope you are feeling much better since your spill.
How fun to get the back story to this beauty, Ray. But are you okay??? We've just returned from America and find it highly unusual that this posting is a couple o days old????
Hi Ray, I've learnt from Bill that you've had a mishap of some sort on your bike, I do hope you are o.k.and will be back with us very soon.
