photoblog image On the Range

On the Range

My Bon/Naomi recently purchased what I think might be a unique piece of lant...it has about 150melres of absolute river frontage on one border, and came with an old house.

One attractive feature of the house is this sealed range in the kitchen.

And here is the view from the kitchen window...Platipus can often be seen hunting in this section of the river, and I saw several of these strange beasts.

Old houses can be great fun! You and Ginnie both have kitchen shots today...
It would be fun to see platypus!
Ray: I like kitchens, Elizabeth...and, I love platypus sighting.
Yes, we're on the same page today, Ray...but with no strange creatures to be found yet.
Ray: Kitchens are wonderful rooms...my house has 2 of them! smile
Quite a place, Ray, what a great view they have.
Ray: I was gobsmacked by their place, Frank.

How amazing is that, wild platypuses in the river!
Ray: It certainly won me over, Chris.

Most Australians have newer seen a platypus.

That is some serious kitchen, Ray and the view is to die for. What a place to have.
Ray: The range easily heats the whole house...helped me to deal with the cold winterr, Astrid.
Surprenante cette ancienne gazinière ..et pour la vue de la cuisine j'adore ...
Bonne journée

You and Ginnie both seem to be on kitchen duties today.
Ray: We colonials seem obsessed with food, Chad.
What a fine old range, somehow it and the bin next to it don't gel somehow or other. Nice view from the window.
Ray: I appreciated the warmth that Ranbe put into the rouse, Brian...very cozy as I was not coping well with winter.
A fine way to produce warmth for a house, Ray. Hope you never have to deal with the bitter cold we experience here during our winters.
Ray: I have become soft after nearly 20 hears of living in the tropics, Beverly.

the cooking range does capture one's attention. i wonder what is that pointed thing hanging off a nail? not a bellow, Ray?
Ray: It is a bellows, Ayush...for use in the unlikely event that the fire is allowed to go out.
I would love to see a platypus in the wild Ray.
Ray: An unlikely event where you live, Bill, so I can tell you the experience leaves one ored.

I can imagine sitting with a cup of real coffee and a slice of fresh bread, with melting butter (not margarine) gazing out the window.
Ray: Ben/Naomi do sometimes make their bread, Louis, and there is a cheese/butter factory 3 minutes drive from their house.
Solid cook surfaces like that are very good. Is it gas or electrically fueled?
