Thai Culture tends to frown upon public displays of intimacy and affection, even having rules about exposure of things like bra straps, so it was a bit of a shock to me to come upon these explicit sandstone sculptures.

Oh, I wonder ... but I heard of these sculptures in the Asian, also Indian culture.
Ray: Yes...I think you have it, Philine...India was the place where the [in]famous Khama Sutra was created. Ancient Khmer kingdoms embraced the religions and cultures of India, and only recently converted to a softer incarnations we now call Buddhism.

Is it surely a truism that nothing in essence changes over the millennia when it comes to happy young couples. These sculptures are just wunnerful!
Ray: Certainly I was sufficiently impressed to decide this place would be included in my Isan Kulture Tours Itinerary, Chris.

Oh my word! I’ve had to avert my gaze. It is not suitable for people of a delicate disposition. We missed this sort of thing from you smile
Ray: Ray has returned...be warned!

This place could be easily included on my Ray's Cycling Tours
itinerary for when you visit me, Alan.
Pas de tabou ....sourires !
Ray: La collection est une propriété privée, présentée dans un lieu privé accessible au public ... sinon je m'attends à ce que ces œuvres ne me soient pas autorisées.
Gosh!!!
Ray: It is somehow comforting to find that the Khmer here like we moders, Bill!

I suppose that as soon as someone could first draw a picture, this was inevitable.
Ray: It is an activity that seems much in the minds of Boys and Girls over the ages, Chad.

With that pointing finger, he is telling her to report what she sees from down there.
Ray: I was thinking the artist was attending to convaye a full body involvement, Louis, but you might me correct.
His hand gesture makes me laugh as it means he is able to think of two things at once.
Ray: He seems to be thinking "I wonder if she will invite me to share her Roasted Duck lunch afterwards?"

Actually...I think you are being overly generous, Mary...farm more likely he is simply enjoying the moment.

bound to turn a few heads, this place, Ray.
Ray: I think I could make it a popular Tourist Attraction, Ayush.
My word, somethings stirring a memory in my tired old brain cells!
Ray: You made me laugh out lour, Brian...thank you! smile

Life goes on … and we are all glad you are back, Ray
Ray: I have managed to draw back from the brink, Richard, and am delighted to among my SC friends again.
Several possible comments came to mind... I will just wonder out loud if that is Stormy Daniels.
Ray: It is just prior to 0600 as I am reading your comment, Larry, and I am in danger of waking the whole house with my laughter.
Curious how the modern Thai has become more "Victorian"! I suppose that, for the newly weds of the time, this was a marriage manual smile
Ray: This set of sculptures is presented as Satire, Tom, with each piece labelled as "General", "Politician", etc...they are modern works, and I don't know if they are copied from older works or, perhaps, someone's imagining of a Khmer Karma Sutra.
It must have been demanding work posing for the sculptor !
Ray: I believe Porn Stars have great stamina, Martin.
