Going out with style
A frangipani flower has fallen from its tree into the pool. Shadows, reflections, and the lens effect of surface tension, add to its beauty and momentarily mask the first phase of its inevitable demise.

Lovely capture. The patterns in the water are what makes this shot for me.
Ray: Thanks, Martin.
The twist in the water surface, caused by surface tension at the edge of the flower, gives a really interesting effect.
Told you, this swimming pool of yours is a botomless sourse of ispiration, like a magic box. You better keep it in a working order, Ray.
Ray: If it depended on me for maintenance, VZ, then it would drained and used for skateboarding or something by now. Fortunately, there are several gardeners and pool staff employed by the apartment complex to look after it all for me, so I guess it will continue to deliver photo-opportunities.
What an extraordinary photo. The patterns in the water and vibrancy of the flower are beautiful!
Ray: Thanks, Jewlya. Looks great now, but the flower deteriorates really quickly after it detaches from its tree.
This is pure magic, Ray, and reminds me of Hawaii, not Thailand!
Ray: Thanks, Ginnie. I wonder why it takes you to Hawaii? Frangipani are native to Thailand.
Did you have this one up before? I may have seen it in one of your coffee table books.
It's a beautiful shot!
Ray: No...this is a new picture, although I have posted others of frangipani flowers floating in the pool previously...but thought this one was an improvement. Thanks for you comment, Mary.
It's just beautiful !!! I have no more words to say ... Well done !!!
Ray: Quite enough for me, Ann. Thank you for your kind comment.
Looks so dimensional that it appears to be the flower and not an image of it.
Ray: Thank you, Kathryn.
Excellent - that lattice at the bottom is making this an extraordinary picture.
Ray: Yes...the tiles and grout lines certainly add something to this shot, Louis.
Awesome Ray this is just out of this world.
Love it
Ray: Thanks, Tracy. Perhaps the swimming pool is also appealing at a time where you folks are all frost-bitten? [grin]
wow, Ray, your stuff just gets better and better

Ray: Thanks, Maestro! You are very kind.
What a superb magical shot Ray. Well done
Ray: Thank you, Richard, for this generous remark.
The refractions have it and ditto VZ
Ray: You sound very mathematical today, Nig. Thanks for your kind comment.
A truly beautiful effect Ray, lovely
Ray: Thanks, Ellie...and not a bug anywhere!
tout simplement splendide
Ray: Thank you for your kind remark, flolipo62.
