photoblog image On the spot

On the spot

Spot, about 11 months old, has had a litter of 5 healthy pups, and she seems very skilled and confident in looking after them. Here they are [well, 4 of them] at 5 days old...eyes and ears still closed.

Spot came to us, with sister Tip, as a free bonus when we bought 10 plant pots.

A fine shot. When they're grown are you going to keep them all?
Ray: We intend to keep just one of them, Chris. Two are already given away, and we will look after them until about 7 weeks, when they can look after themselves.

What a sweet image - will you keep them all?
Ray: We intend to keep just one, Philine. Two have already been requested, and we are just looking after them until they are about 7 weeks old and can feed themselves.

One good reason I never go anywhere near a garden centre, although I'm not aware on any similar offers in the UK wink Spot looks slight bemused. Will all five be playmates for the cats?
Ray: I expect the cats will play with them, Alan, but we intend to give 4 away to lucky visitors, and 2 are already spoken for.

Five more members added to your family zoo will not make much difference ... er will it?
Ray: I am hoping we will keep one of the litter, Richard. Two of the five were given away when they were two days old, so we are just taking care of them for a few weeks.
Now you know why!
Ray: It was a planned event, Bill. We took care that Tip didn't also deliver the packages.
Daddy travelling salesman? Lovely shot, Ray.
Ray: Spot played around with all the strong blokes in the lane, Tom...I expect there is more than one father.
She looks very proud. Where is number five?
Ray: #5 was down near Spot's tail, in a futile search for an exclusive milk supply, Mary.

Spot does seem very pleased with herself.
What a beautiful and moving image Ray!
Ray: Spot's human family are all enjoying the experience, Richard.

How sweet! I am glad you are finding homes for them
Ray: It seems they will all have homes in this Village, on another village next to ours, Hollie. We intend to keep one puppie, as Old Jon Jon is getting close to done.
A lovely shot, Ray.
Ray: I liked the subject, Frank.
Spot looks very proud of her wee ones Ray... blind and deaf they know where to get their dinner... touching shot....petersmile
Ray: Spot is really good at this, Peter, and it is great fun to watch the performance.
Motherhood suits here then.
Ray: She has all the moves, Jacquelyn, and performs like she has done it many times, despite having never seen it done before.
I love how you all love animals!!
Ray: Our dogs and cats are family to us, Elizabeth.
