Coriander Creator

Most folks will know that Coriander is the herb name given to the seeds of the Cilandro plant. Here is a Hoverfly that is assisting the plant in the creating of those taste bombs in our garden.

Cilandro is a common garnish on Thai and Viet traditional dishes, and thrown in soups immediately prior to serving...but, loved and loathed in about equal proportions.

Coriander is not much used in SE Asian traditional cooking.

Quel magnifique macro avec tous ces détails !
Ray: Merci, Martine.
Fantastic shot, Ray!
I like Coriander.
Ray: Thank you, Elizabeth.

I quite like cilandro...a good thing as it grows easily in the garden and frequently finds its way onto the table.

Some folks call it Asian Parsley, but it tastes very different from Parsley.

Not keen on coriander, Ray, but what a fly! Excellent macro
Ray: Thank you, Lisl. I really like trying to get shots of Hoverflies, as they are very handsome critters.
Fantastic detail, Ray.
Ray: Hoverflies are beautiful critters, aren't they, Frank...and, the closer you get, the better they look!

This outstanding, fabulous. A likey to me. What a crisp macro..
Ray: You are very kind, Astrid.
In America/English, Ray, we call it cilantro, with a 't'. I wonder if it's the same thing (I assume so). I love it and am sure your hoverfly does, too.
Ray: I am confident it is the same plant, Ginnie. I quite like it, too, but know many people who detest it!

Oh crikey! What another cracker this is. I had no idea that coriander is the seeds of the Cilantro plant; I always thought that it came from a supermarket wink What stunning detail in the Hoverfly.
Ray: Now that I have morphed into a farmer, Alan, I have made a number of startling discoveries like that about vegetables and fruits.

Really great image!
Ray: You are too kind, Philine...but, I like it!
Cracking picture Ray

I like coriander
Ray: Thank you, Bill

And...good for you!
I planted cilantro once over thirty years ago in my garden and can still feed a neighbourhood with it as it self-seeds. I give away hunks for others to transplant. They are often covered with very small flies, perhaps like the perfect specimen you have shared. Excellent altogether!
Ray: It does seem that bees and flies love cilandro/coriander, Mary.
You could have called your blog Mainly Fly Ray.
Ray: I could have done that, Chad.
Excellent close-up, it musy have good taste as I also like Coriander.
Ray: Bees and flies seem very attracted to this herb, Brian.
Beautiful shot, Ray!
Ray: Thank you, Tom.
I would hate to meet that fly in person...
Ray: You would be fine, Larry...just shake its hand and murmur something like "They serve wonderful appetisers here, don't you think?", and you will get on just fine with it.
despite culinary preferences, i like this shot very much, Ray.
