photoblog image Another kind of Dragon

Another kind of Dragon

Another kind of Dragon that can be found in Bangkok's Lumpini public park.

In addition to wonderful complex eyes, and unsurpassed flying apparatus, The dragonfly is also blessed with comprehensive landing gear.

The background of new growth on a broadleaf garden plant allows some of the features of this dragon to be highlighted.

Those are not the most attractive lips I've ever seen but that's ok. I'm not planning to kiss him. Fabulous photo, in all seriousness.
Ray: Thanks, Mary. I am not much into kissing dragonflies either, but they are impressive animals.

You got that with you S3 IS, Ray! OMG! That's fabulous! Out of curiosity, did you take this pic with your Macro/Super Macro Mode or from farther away with your zoom? I had no idea our camera could do that!!! Uh-oh. Look what you've just unleashed! grin

This is going to my Likeys (FOR MY CAMERA POSSIBILITIES!).
Ray: Yes...totally shop-standard S3is.
Super macro mode is a nice tool, but requires a lot of tolerance on the subject's part, as shots like this one require the camera to be 1cm or less from them.
The more I use the S3is the more convinced I become that it is a great camera for the modest price.

possibly ur best macro shot...
Ray: Thanks, Photosam. I am starting to get the hang of macro with this shop-standard camera.
Superb macro! Incredible detail and composition.
Ray: Thank you, Red Pen. I think the background helped me to grab so much detail with this shot.
You know, these just keep getting better and better! I particularly like the background colour on this one - it suits the subject so well. (:o)
Ray: I think the background helped me a lot with the amount of detail I was able to capture.
I'm entirely with Rosalyn here Bravissimo !!
Ray: I am so pleased you like this picture.

I don't get why you did not get more attention with this beauty. mal
Ray: It's not a bad snap.
Perhaps folks are full "up to pussy's bow" with dragonflies. Thank you for the compliment, mal.
