Paddyfield Pipit
On a vantage-point, a low mound in the first-plowed rice-field, the slender Paddyfield Pipit checks briefly for dangers before resuming its foraging in the straw.

For some reason, he looks irritable. Are you annoying him?
Ray: I think I am the least of its concerns...it is 40+ degC [ie. very hot], and I think the bird would rather be resting back on a chair in the shade, and sipping a long gin&tonic, than foraging in the rice field.
LOL @ your response to Jewlya. I'm still learning how to shoot birds to hats off to you
Ray: I have much to learn, Stan. It is an interesting and challenging field. Thank you for the comment.
Great DOF, this is a cool shot, yep I know 40+ degC, it is like sitting in a frying pan...
Ray, you did it again, a likey to me, weren't you hot in that 'Big Bird' suit??
Ray: Ha Ha!
Big bird has a pocket...for cameras, cold cans of beer, stuff like that.
Just look at those long legs!!!nearly as long as mine
Lovely looking bird Ray and with again with great detail
Ray: Very slim, elegant bird. You will have to post a self-portrait for me to see the similarities, Tracy.
My my my this is rather beautiful Ray. Lovely details.
Ray: It is a pretty little bird, Scarlet...spends most of its time on the ground, foraging about in the rice straw.
he does look hot and bothered, but a lovely shot, well foraged. mal
Ray: [grin] something about "mad dogs and.....mid-day sun" come to mind.
My camera is quite sweat-stained despite being only 6 months old.
Another great capture Ray. I really like the tones here!
Ray: I am pleased it works for you, Richard.
Your bird shots are very good. This guy looks like he was caught in the act. I decline to speculate what act that might have been.
Ray: Thanks, Martin.
It does look a little startled...a bit like the young kids when you catch them playing a bit of "show me yours and I'll show you mine".
You must be a very nice person if even the pipit trusts you
Excellent picture.
Ray: Thanks, Louis.
I think I am slowly learning how to behave with birds...I am getting more shots these days, but still have many disappointing misses due to my poor techniques.
Oh la la!
Sharp and beautiful! I only wish to translate the framing slighly to the right.
Ray: Thank you for the comment, Remi.
Often, I like to offset the main subject in my images...on this occasion I felt it worked better centered...I appreciate hearing your opinion, though.
Did you pay him to pose like that, good capture.
