Screwed
Someone probably had a good reason for puncturing the palm with a self-tapping screw, but it is not obvious at this point in time.

Looks like you had to go out of your way to find some rust, but this is well worth the effort. The band around the tree adds to the shot.
Ray: I have quite an eye for rust [and bugs] these days, Martin.
Sharp as a tack. Well done.
Ray: Perhaps even as sharp as a self-tapping screw? [grin] Thanks, Mary.
I wonder why they did it. Maybe to hang something? Lovely shot - such detail against such a smooth background.
Ray: Lots of the plants in the garden have stuff like this sticking out of them...I think they hang fairy lightsfrom them when there is a festival.
Before I saw your title, Ray, I knew you were screwed.
Ray: [grin]
Super shot, Ray, great DoF to focus everything on the rusty screw. Lovely.
Ray: Thank you, urban8...it is all about the rusty screw.
It's about time we had some rust, well spotted
Ray: I agree...let's have rust!
Makes me wonder why, why, why.
Beautiful photograph, Ray. ditto to everything everyone said and let me add the symbolism is just as rich.
Ray: Thank you, Kathryn. It is highly invasive, isn't it.
Very nice capture Ray. Great details and lighting; I like the patterns
Ray: Some palms have very interesting "skin".
for a washing line Ray?...
anyway lovely sharp result. mal
Ray: ....or....perhaps to give the dragonflies somewhere to land after their long flight into Bangkok from up-country. Thanks, mal.
Hung a poster. Vote for Ray.
A screwed palm - I still have to think about that Great picture and lol at Mary's tacky comment
Ray: There are these rather ironic signs in the garden..."Please take care of the plants"...almost certainly place by the same ground-keepers who brutalised this palm.
original, très bien fait, superbe macro, bravo
Ray: merci, beaucoup.
