Bike Tour 2019 #30

This is Cambodia's newest Highway...it traces the Cambodia : Thailand border...the trafic is extremely light, and there are very few traveller's conveniences in place at this stage.

Koen was ahead of us at this point, and so got the attention of an aggresive dog that gave him a small bite on the leg. When we got to him, Koen was kursing about the dog...Tim offered sympathy...I offered to hack off his leg with a tire lever as a precortion against infection, but we decided to hold on that remedy until after an hour or so of observation. Koen did not then try to bite Us, so we reasoned that he did not get infected with rabies, and so amputation was deemed un-necessary.

Talk about coincidence, yesterday while cycling in my area (Nonthaburi) I got bitten again...
Ray: I can confirm that dogs are a hazard to cyclists, Koen! sad
Dogs it seems are not cyclist friendly your way, Ray !
Ray: The man problem is that dogs are not tethered in these parts, Frank.

This is wonderful composition (leading lines are great) while at the same time, telling a story of the culture in this location. Very nice!!
Ray: My friend , Koen, is quite competent with a camera, Bonnie.
Whew - crisis averted. You were good to offer the use of your tire lever... smile
It seems Koen is a bite- magnet!
Ray: That's what friends are for, Elizabeth.

This is quite mad isn't it, a new road with nothing but that eccentric agricultural machine on it. Glad yer mate still has two legs..
Ray: The lack of competition for the road makes for pleasing cycling, Chris...except for those dogs.
I am pleased Koen still has both legs. I wish our roads were this quiet
Ray: Koen seems quite pleased to still have 2 legs, too, Bill.

Ha ha great story. Rabies would be a worry And the lower picture looks like you explaining your amputation solution.
Ray: Yes...I was explaining to Tim that he might be required to sit of Koen to keep him steady, Chad.
Oh to have roads as empty as that when doing a journey. Glad to read the tyre lever wasn't required.
Ray: I expect we will be thinking of another cycling tour in Cambodia before too long, Brian...it is a wonderful place for this activity...aggressive dogs and very hot weather notwithstanding.
I am afraid of dogs when walking or cycling. Perhaps fear of amputation as at the root.
Ray: Ha Ha

Untethered dogs are a serious hazard here, Mary.
And it looks HOT!
Ray: Yes...we would have required a tornequet if we had amputated, Tom...good thinking! smile
