Precipitation

And so, to a small city...not far from the Border, but at least 700km from Bangkok.

It has not stopped raining since we left my house this morning, and the rain continues and intensifies in the night. It is still raining next morning, and the weather reports describe local flooding and continued rain!

Time to retreat to my house...

Jolie photo de nuit. Dommage cette pluie pour la visite.
Ray: Nous ne planifions pas nos voyages, Martine, pour pouvoir changer de direction facilement, comme vous le verrez demain.

And not so long ago it was bone dry. At least your rice plants will love this..
Ray: The Monsoon started very dry this year, Chris, but it is now bucketing down for a while each day. It is too late for some farmers, but our rice has recovered well.
Dommage ce mauvais temps !!
Ray: Peu importe, Claidine, car nous planifions nos voyages au fur et à mesure, de sorte que rien n’a été gâché.
We had heavy rain early this morning and, according to the forecast, it is set to rain for the next two weeks......mind you it has stopped at the moment and there is a bit of blue sky!
Ray: It continues to rain here, Bill.
My daughter experienced the monsoon season, Ray, but I was there during the dry season so didn't get to see how heavy these rains could be. Your images give us a good idea of this.
Ray: Tim, Koen and I have all lived in Thailand for many years, so we knew what to expect, and simply made alternative plans, as you will see, Beverly.
I guess you get used to the Monsoon season even when it does mess up travel plans, although a messed up harvest is a different matter.
Ray: Yes...no big deal for us to simply do other things, Brian...one of the reasons we never do much forward planning of these trips. We were pleased that the rain had finally arrived, as the farms were suffering.

Monsoon season ... ?
Ray: That is correct, Richard...the Big Well! It is the main weather event every year.
It was a deluge...
Ray: True...and it continues, KK.
Around the bay in Charlottetown this week, they has a 50 mm rainstorm. We got only 5mm.
Ray: It is good you are now getting rain, Mary.

50mm in 30 minutes is not unusual here.
