photoblog image Wandering Turtle

Wandering Turtle

Found wandering through our house garden...These Turtles are hardy and tenacious critters, and have inhabited the Earth far longer than us. It has no teeth, but its beek has a sharp, boney edge, and its powerful jaws can inflict painful wounds...it is best to take care when assisting this turtle on its journey.

This species is capable in water but spends most of its life on land, and lays its eggs in the rice paddies.

What a nice little creature Ray.
Ray: Cute looking, but they have a "don't mess with me" attitude, Frank.
Aren't they just amazing!
Ray: I like finding one in the garden, Elizabeth...it is a bit like finding a dinosaur.
On voit bien tous les détails sur a première photo.
Ray: En la pliant d'une main, j'ai pu approcher très près la caméra, Martine.
I see them here sometimes flattened on the roads..., sad really.
Ray: Yes...quite a lot do get hit my cars, KK.

Ray: One of the many things I have learned from Na is how to safely handle a turtle. smile

Not the sort of cuddly pet sort of thing really. They obviously have survival techniques, though.
Ray: I think their designed characteristics have stoop up well over many years, Alan.
He has a sharp eye!
Ray: Startling eyes, and a rather attractive overall package, Bill.

I hope you attended to it’s needs and directed it to safe pastures. Fascinating.
Ray: Indeed...after the photo shoot I dropped her oven the fence that was in her way, Richard.
J'zdore les tortues de terre , souvnirs de petite enfance ...
Ray: Oui ... Je pense que ce sont des animaux très attirants et méritant notre admiration, Claudine.

Thank you for the lesson Ray, I hope it was not suffering altitude sickness.
Ray: I might be wrong, Chad, but I think that is a grin...an expression of pleasure resulting from my caring touch. smile
It must be nice to have this character paying a visit though.
Ray: I enjoy the visits by unusual animals, Brian.
What an excellent portrait of this turtle! I like the bit of green moss growing on it's shell.
Ray: It is a most attractive visitor, Mary.
It looks a trifle angry at having its progress halted!
Ray: More perplexed, I think...when angry the moth is open and there are hissing sounds, Tom.
