I'm glad to see her efforts to alert you were not gone unnoticed!!

Good for you!

Don't mess Mr Spider's life up if you can avoid doing so..
Ray: I have much respect for these master weavers, Chris.
I "get" everything about this, Ray, except the X design, which I've never seen before. Do you know what it's about?
Ray: I have heard some different theories about this X, Ginnie, but We do not really know. My feeling is this is here home base and she gives it some extra strength.
Wouah ..bravo pour la photo
Belles prises de vues !
Ray: Demain, je vous donnerai une meilleure vue de cette belle et talentueuse Orb Spider, Claudine....

Man alive, This looks like she knitted a cross here, yelling, "come in, come in, we serve cookies and tea".... I never saw a spiderweb like that, Ray.
Ray: Org Spiders ere wonderful crafters, Astrid. I will show her to you tomorrow...she is a beauty.

I have only ever seen a spider's web similar to that just once - it was that of a Wasp Spider in the Camargue
Ray: This is an Orb Spider, Lisl, and they are the master weavers.

I'm puzzled as to the white thing. It looks to be one of those paper cutouts one does a child. It's a wonderful web.
Ray: Orb Spiders are master web weavers, Alan, and occasionally even catch, kill and consume small birds.

The X for "No pruning". Good thing you read it.Or maybe the X is an indication to the prey, where to aim. Like the landing point for a parachutist. Crafty spider.
Ray: I am now wondering if it might be a reinforcement of the web it that major stress point, Louis.
I met this spider in Australia:
https://animalcorner.co.uk/animals/st-andrews-cross-spider/

We have spiders that do this same cross but it is finer and not as noticeable as your example and the AU example.
Ray: Tomorrow I will show the spider, Mary, and you will see it is the same, or very similar.
What a curious construction!
Ray: As it is at the centre oh the web I am thinking it is a reinforcing of that point, Tom.
Wow I have never seen anything like this before Ray
Ray: This species is noted for its weaving abilities, Bill.
two great shots Ray... you captured the details very well....petersmile
Ray: Lighting can be a challenge with these shots, Peter, so I was pleased with the result.
