photoblog image NE Cambodia by bike #01

NE Cambodia by bike #01

We [Tim, Koen and I] are off on a bicycle tour of NE Campodia. We have made no bookings, but I did tell Na I expect we will be away for 5 or 6 days. The only declaired objective is to visit the "Temple of Preah Vihear World Heritage Site"...since the World Court took the site from Thailand, and gave it to Cambodia, it is no longer able to be visited from Thailand.

As our combined age is now more than 200years, we have begun to think of ourselves as the "200 Touring Club". We have made many low bujet tribs together, and this is our second bicycle tour.

The images used in this series are with Smartphones, by Koen or Ray, and each will be appropriately identified.

Please join us...I think you will find it fun!

                                                  ---------------+--------------

So...here are Tim and I, loading our bites on the roof of my car, while Koun assumes the role of Trip Documenter. Na and her brother will take us to the border, and return in several days to recover what is left of us.

In the second image you can see I am driveing while Tim navigates...Tim is quite OK if you offer him something to keep him busy.  :)

did the Jack Daniels banner help? grin looking forward to the trip/ride, Ray
Ray: Like the things hanging from the mirror, Ayush, it keeps you safe when travelling. smile Must have worked as we had no car accident!

I hope you are finding the back seat comfortable.
Hahaha, I forgot about that Jack Daniels banner!
Great to finally read your version, Ray, keep them coming!
I will add links to your site.
Ray: I will offer a link to your fine blog at the end of my series, KK, as you are moving through the story at a faster pace than me...ok?
Great! Sounds like fun!!
I see J.D. reminds you not to drink and drive! smile
Ray: Oh yes...JD is most supportive, Elizabeth.

Getting a little older doesn't stop the fun, Ray
Ray: You and I are in total agreement on this, Lisl.

This is very exciting. I am in envy of your deserted roads..
Ray: A major highway, Chris, but more than 400hm from the big city...it is like a 200bm long car-park a few times each year.
Oh, goodie gumdrops...another bike trip. I like how you came up with the "200 Touring Club."
Ray: I am not very fit at the moment, but do enjoy these trips, Ginnie.
ET voilà  c'est le grand jour , j'ai hate de découvrir ce périple !
Merci pour ce partage
Ray: Il y aura également un contexte historique impliquant la France, Claudine.

This sounds like a great trip and I hope you have room enough in your car to take all of us along, Ray.
Buckle up and let's GO...smile
Ray: There is plenty of room for my SC buddies, but some of you might need to sit on the laps of others, Astrid.

Ummmm.. when you said you were going on a cycling tour, I assumed that you were cycling and not simply taking the bikes for a ride smile
Ray: Ha Ha!

I have learned from you that one uses the bicycle as a prop...prop it up against the wall of a cake shop and observers will think you have urned your treat! smile

Patience...the cycling action is coming soon.
This is exciting I will settle back for the ride
Ray: Take a rest now, because things soon get a bit hot and sweaty, Bill. smile

How exciting Ray, I love a road trip. I have only just twigged that you drive on the left in Siam. I hope everyone else does too.
Ray: Of course , Chad, we are as organisationaly disfunctional here as in other parts of the world...the moment we cross into Cambodia we must switch to the right side of the road.

You must be planning a very relaxed bicycle trip, when you load the bicycles on the Fortuner. Sage advice from Johnny.
Ray: Ayyy...Johnny has useful tips for anything involving acts of Love, Louis!
So we're off then, I found a small space in the back to squeeze in for the journey.
Ray: Welcome abort, Brian.
I'm glad you are driving. The other side of the road is confusing at first.

I welcome your guided tour.

Have you been to the site before? I am thinking you have.
Ray: I have tried to do to the Khmer ancient site twice before, Mary, but was denighed access as the Thai and Cambodian armies were pointing guns at each other while the World Court was trying to resolve ownership.

Now it has been given to the Cambodians, and has been declared a World Heritage Site.

Neither Tim nor Koen have been to it.
Sounds like an interesting trip! We'll be with you all the way!
