NE Cambodia by bike #08

On the road again...early, because we have desided that the coolest time to ride is the two or three hours of early morning. In fact we are riding on empty stomachs, and intend to find breakfast beside the road.

The second image has a story to go with it. I road ahead, with intention to get a shot of my companions approaching me. When about 200 metres in front, I stopped to prepare for the shot, but I was thinking about how to make the shot rather than getting off the bike safely. Multitasking is not my strong suit, since I re-aranged my brain 2 years ago, and so I got tangled as I got off, and fell on the road with my bike on top of me. Koen and Tim saw that I had fallen, and thought the worst, so were less than relaxed when they got to me...

Oh! I imagine they were quite concerned, Ray! One thing at a time Dear man!
Ray: Sadly, I am still trying to remember this new reality, Elizabeth. smile
wise decision indeed of clocking up the miles early morning before breakfast, Ray. i see you still got the shot - that is a dedicated photographer.
Ray: Oh, yes...I had to make the shot! smile
The fact that you made the shot AND this post tells me you are none the worse for wear. But MAN ALIVE, Ray, pay attention!!!
Ray: Yes, Mam! smile

I had a saw bum for a few days, but nothing worse. And, my Ego is starting to understand the new normal, so I was not even embarrassed about it.

Do be careful, Ray - one thing at a time!
Ray: The problem is that is not my "natural" mode of behavior, Lisl.

Oh dear Ray. What you need are some stabilisers smile My best cycling chum just did a simple fall around six weeks or so ago and damaged his wrist; he's not been able to ride since. It was just the skid along the edge of a pavement (sidewalk?) ate was around 2.5cm high.. so daft really. Hope you weren't hurt on this fall. Looks like breakfast has arrived.
Ray: Yes...I have had about 10 serious incidents since the Big One, and all of them seem related to failed multi-tasking behavior from me. I think it is clear, Alan, but I am not prepared to wrap myself in bubble-wrap.
Oh mince alors ...pas de chance , j'imagine qu'il n'y avait pas de gros bobos ?????
Ray: Quelques ecchymoses sur mon derrière, Claudine, mais rien qui ne m'a ralenti.

Man alive, Ray....leave multitasking to somebody else. I am glad that you took the picture no matter what and you survived. (Once again)
Ray: Just a bruised bum, Astrid, so nothing that stopped me from doing stuff.

Well all I can say is keep trying to multitask, and keep in the company of good mates too..
Ray: The NeuroPsycologist I met in Australia did advise me that "Multitasking is your Enemy", Chris, but, while it is clear that he is correct as I keep have incidents like this, it is not preventing me from continuing to do like I used to do.
Promise me not to do that again Ray, you scared the hell out of us!
Ray: I will try to not do it again, KK.
I will apologise for laughing when I read this

At least we know you got back in one piece
Ray: I have incidents like this a kit too often these days, Bill, but do try to be careful most of the time.

The shadows are great Ray. I can imagine the scare you gave your companions.
Ray: I risked life and limp to make that shot whale riding behind my friends...lots of multi-tasking required for that..., Chad, and I was delighted with the shadows.

My main concern was that I had given a scare to Tim and Koen.

What a long shadow! I wish you a wonderful bike trip! Please, be cautious, Ray!
Ray: I was delighted to get the shadows so well, Philine.
Your auto-pilot system has a slight malfunction. The level of danger has to be considered from now on. You are lucky to have these mates who know you so well.
Ray: I am still discovering damage, and either working on it or working around it as I go, Mary. Cycling is not as simple as it once was, and I have had numerous "incidents". Tim, Koen and I have great trips together.

A great adventure. I wonder about that fall - low blood sugar, because you haven't eaten yet, can produce that result as well.
Ray: I have concluded that Low Blood Sugar has been an issue in most of my recent incidents, Louis, and so I usually try to keep it up when riding. We are having a fine time, though.
the photo of your friends ahead of you is perfect with the long morning shadows Ray... as for falling off of the bike... you can just put it to a senior momentsmile....petersmile
Ray: Thank you, Peter. I need to take more care these days, but age is not the main reason. smile

OH, no! Well, you got the shot anyway!! Devoted photographer.
Ray: Yes...it was important to finally make the shot, Bonnie. smile
