Old cat...New cat

Browney and Tom, discussing why their humans have installed stained glass windows in the floor.

Browney is our oldest cat...about 8 years old but looks much more as she has been seriously ill a couple of times...but she still delights and amazes us some times. A few days ago I was sitting on the front steps and watching Browney and Tom on the grass about 4 meters from me...I was thinking there might be a photo-op so reached for my camera...too late!...a Sparrow flew over the cats at a hight of about 1 meter...Browney leaped in the air...took the bird with one paw, and transpered it to her jawes by the time she landed. I had no time to even raise the camera, and Tom looked stunned.

Cats often manage to surprise me as well, amazing creatures!
Ray: Yes...I am pleased we have them in our Family, KK.
Two beauties Ray.
Ray: Browney is quite ok with new cat Tom, but the others are still a bit distant, so they are often together, Frank.
Cats are amazing! And I always enjoy seeing your photos of them!
Ray: It has been great fun watching Tom win over the Humans and Dogs in his new family, but the 4 older cats are making it difficult for him and only Browney has fully accepted after nearly 2 months. But Tom is not a quitter.
Ils sont magnifiques tous les deux.
Ray: Nous avons 5 chats, Martine, et tous sont magnifiques. Ce sont des membres très appréciés de notre famille.

Browney is a real pro then, an experienced cat. Tom might or might not become like this, you never know..
Ray: Browney is no ordinary cat, Chris, and Tom can learn much from her.
That is one helluva story, Ray!
Ray: It might be the most awesome thing I ever saw a Cat do, Ginnie.

What amazing reactions Browney has. Tom could only look and learn I guess. The only time one of cats caught a bird when when he was laying on grass yawning and a bird walked in to commit suicide.
Ray: Browney seems to catch Sparrows at will, Alan...she has worked out best places and usually takes them out of the air. This event is the closest I have ever been to the action.

Man alive that is some story to tell, Ray... and yes I wonder too, why do you have stained glass windows in the floor wink....
Ray: Sometimes the reflections from the front doors are very strong on the shinny floor, as in this case, Astrid. Browney is a most impressive cat, and certainly the smartest of ours...she has shown the others many things.
Cats are endlessly fascinating and very entertaining.
Ray: They are most welcome in our family, Bill.
La discussion a l'air bien sérieuse ...deux chats superbes et intelligents
Ray: Tous nos chats sont des membres estimés et respectés de notre famille, Claudine.

Browney’s instinctive hunting instinct is far faster than your camera trigger finger
Ray: Oh, yes! She was going up the steps and into the house with the bird before I had fully processed what had just happened, Richard.

A lot of life in Browney yet, Ray. How they love new things
Ray: Curiosity is a wonderful feature of their behavior, Lisl. We hope Browney has many years yet.

Tom will learn from Browney. They are both lovely cats Ray.
Ray: Tom follows Browney a lot, and I believe it is for the purpose of learning, Chad. Browney seems to enjoy the attention she gets from Tom.
Wow that is quite a story
Ray: It increased my respect for Cats, Martin. Until 4 years ago Browney was a Bangkok Inside Cat, but she has taught herself and the other cats so many skills. She takes 2 or 3 Sparrows every week, but this was the first time I had a close view of the action.
Brpwnie is teaching the new kitten how it works. Awesome. At the moment Purrl is watching a bird video beside me as I train her not to touch them.
Ray: Browney and Tom are getting on well, and Browney does seem to enjoy the teaching role. The other cats are slow to accept Tom, but the dogs are all fine about it.
There's life in the old girl yet!
Ray: It seems so, Tom, and having the new kitten in the Family seems to have been good for her, too.
it's a great picture Ray... i enjoyed your story about the bird hunting by Browney....petersmile
Ray: We have known for many years that Browney is the smartest of our cats, Peter.
