Ray, you sure know how to make me laugh! The colors here are fabulous, too. Does the mate have to be red??
Ray: Oh, yes!
Only red contenders need apply!

Super colours,so bold
Ray: Stinkbugs are often brightly coloured...it is to advertise for a mate, and they smell/taste so bad that is is not a problem they are also easily seen by birds.

Wild colors! They almost look oversaturated, but it works nevertheless.
Ray: Thanks, Martin.

BTW...I am happy to hear from you...have been thinking about you the past few days with Houston so much in the news. I trust everything is ok with you?
That's some bug!
Ray: They are very attractive animals but have a bad smell defense.
Impressive combination of colors. Great contrast and good saturation!
Ray: I have slightly enhanced the green colour, but the bug is au naturale.

the red on green is great
Ray: I fiddled a bit with the greens, but the bug is au naturale. Thanks, Photosam.
Excellent colours Ray.
Ray: Thanks, Bernie. I try to put plenty of colour in my shots these days.

Nudge wink, yes. Even the eyes are red - must have indulged a bit. I agree about the matching mate colour - imagine the little bugs if the mate happens to be blue.
Ray: I hope to have a camera with me if I ever come upon the progeny of colour-challenged stinkbugs. [grin]

stunning shot Ray, and with a 400mm. Would imaging it gets harder to get the focus spot on like this the longer the focal length?
Ray: Thanks, Tim.
I think the image would have been sharper with a lens of shorter focal length...sometimes you just have to do the best you can with what is at hand, and I rarely carry multiple lenses when I go walking.
Fabulous shot ... the info' made me crease up. You must have stopped breathing to take this.

Ray: Ha Ha! Stinkbugs tend to release their chemical attractors/detractors only when sexually excited or threatened.

I think this lady could see I am pretty harmless by both measures.[grin]

Also...with a 400mm lens I had to keep back nearly 2 metres to achieve focus.
Simply awesome
Ray: Thanks, Sub&Sin.
Usually you go "Eeeeck!" when you see a bug in a picture. [grin]
Amazing artwork, colours are really wonderful !
Ray: Thanks, Zebigleb. This is an image that I post processed quite a lot...I am beginning to get confidence to try some new things, and occasionally they turn out not too bad.
