photoblog image In Safe Hands

In Safe Hands

The pigeons seem quite confident, despite my presence...I think they believe their "friend" will be able to handle me if things get rough.

At a small pond in the garden of a temple we visited recently.

[This evening I take the sleeping train up-country with The Fabulous Four for the start of a week of travel around Cambodia. I have queued images for your enjoyment, and will try to find a way to occasionally look in on your creations. In any case I will certainly catch up, when I return.]

Enjoy your trip, Ray; I'm sure it will be hoot. The pigeon is sat on what appears to be some sat on some sort of bird sculpture, judging by the beak and the wings. Perhaps it is the God of Pigeons?
Ray: Its a Garuda, Alan...in several countries in SE Asia, this mythical critter has prominence...its especially prevalent in Thailand and Indonesia.
I'm sure that their friend could handle you easily Ray... good fun capture....petersmile
Ray: I didn't pick a fight with them, Peter...just in case....
Great photo Ray!
Have a wonderful time!
Ray: It should be a fun trip, Elizabeth, based on prior travels with these blokes.
une image fabuleuse
Ray: Merci, Magali.

You have caught so well the irridescence on the pigeon. Have a good holiday with your chums - we will enjoy your pictures in due course
Ray: Pigeons are quite attractive birds, aren't they, Lisl...quite tasty, too, in a long-crust pie.

What an interesting mythical figure - and you were there at the right moment! Enjoy your trip to Cambodia - that's told to be a foreign world - and I'm looking forward to your images - but be safe and cautious!
Ray: My experience of Cambodia is that it is a fascinating place, Philine. I am looking forward to the trip.
Half man, half pigeon Ray?
Ray: Yes...that is the Garuda, Chadridge.

This must be the pigeons' guardian angel, at least it is in their eyes. Off to Cambodia eh, I look forward very much to hearing your tales of adventure, excitement - and beer..
Ray: This is the Garuda...half Pigeon and half Man...a common mythical beast of SE Asia, Chris.

I am anticipating a good few days, and I am confident beer will feature.

Beautiful image !
Ray: You are very kind, Sylvie.
haha, they look very comfortable in his arms
Ray: I think, perhaps, they have known each other for some time, Rani.
The statue looks as if it likes pigeons. Have a great trip
Ray: I suppose something has to like pigeons, Bill.

"The friend" looks a little terrified.
Ray: he's a brave and warriorlike critter, Mary...perhaps he has trouble smiling when he has a beak rather than a mouth.

[grin]
He looks to be smiling to me, Ray, and seems pleased to have a pigeon perched on his head and another on his arm. The colours are wonderful. Enjoy your Cambodian trip with the fabulous four!
Ray: Thank you, Beverly.
What a fine opportunity, I really like this. Enjoy your trip with the boys, no doubt plenty of thirst quenching places have been mapped out in advance smile
Ray: We tend to set off with little more than a return date worked out in advance, Brian. However...I am sure there will be beer in the itinerary.
Have a good trip,Ray , come back with some gritty black and whites.
Ray: Thank you, Michael.
Very nice capture Ray! Have a great time in Cambodia.
Ray: Cambodia was excellent!
a lot of belligerent eye contact here, Ray. have a good trip
Ray: I did not have many friends, Ayush.
