Anodised Aluminium

This Hoverfly, resting on a Desert Rose bud near our front steps, has what looks like an anodised aluminium body.

Its most impressive feature, though, is its beautifully decorated eyes.

Do you think its etye by simialr to our own when they are bloodshot after a night with the firewater? I'm sure it appeals to hoverflies of the opposite sex.
Ray: I think it equates more to the human female custom of painting the vicinity of the eyes, Alan...some gals probably believe it is about artistic expression, but I think it is about improving the prospects for bonking.
Cracking close up Ray, nature has made this to be a very attractive creature.
Ray: I think they are quite brilliant critters, Brian.
Wonderful eyes!
Ray: They are things of beauty, Tom.
the eyes are arresting, Ray
