photoblog image wat hua lampong [1]

wat hua lampong [1]

Inside the main building of wat hua lampong, in Bangkok. The upper parts of all walls are covered in an elaborate fresco, depicting a morality tale with an eccentric mix of scenes.

Folks in the foreground are engaged in acts of merit-making; probably they are attempting a personal dialogue with Buddha, with a view to enhancing their good fortune, well-being or happiness.

----

First of a short series of posts to show some of the art inside this building.

There are 32,000+ Buddhist temples [wats] in Thailand, and many are richly decorated.

This series was inspired by a wonderful series from Zebigleb  [ http://imaginerf.shutterchance.com/photoblog/Global_view_/ ] on a Rivera fresco he photographed in Mexico.

vivid colors. nice capture.
Ray: Predominant colours inside a Thai wat [Buddhist temple] are usually dazzling red and gold. I am pleased you like the picture.
Very colourful!
Ray: Very! Lots of the wats are like this, and are also frequently very colourful outside as well.

Oh, goody-goody gumdrops, Ray! I LOVED Zeb's Rivera series and will delight in yours as well. The same but different.

The grandson of our landlords in Germany (when we lived there for 2 years before moving to Amsterdam!) has just gone to Thailand for a student exchange program this school year. I will thoroughly enjoy seeing what HE will be seeing.
Ray: Thanks, Ginnie.
If the young guy needs a contact in Thailand for any reason, then he is welcome to get in touch with me.
Aaw ! That's a great idea my friend and I feel honored to have inspired it, look forward for the next shots smile smile
Ray: Thank you, Zebigleb, for giving me the idea.
My goodness - just look at that colour! Fabulous. (:o)
Ray: No shortage of colour inside Thai Buddhist temples.
